Artist Statement

The ,,Inner Shadows” exhibition brings to light the complexities of transition between one’s inner universe, crossing through the natural state of solitude, symbolized by the closed eyes, to the beginning of self-actualization in the outer universe, represented by the half-opened eyes. The journey is completed and ready for repetitions only after an exploration of ones relationship with the present external environment, that of which is represented by the wide open eyes. The artists series of self-portraits paralleled by the intense eye details create a tensioned atmosphere shown through an ethereal palette of violet colors. The paintings attempt to draw the viewer into a state of meditation, solitude and psychological analysis of the inner self. This internalization process plays a real therapeutic role, in order to regain an inner balance and peace.
