Artist statement
One day, months ago, I felt the need to reconsider. I received signals, impulses, vibrations that pointed to that path. I remembered an old painting of mine which used to be in my brother’s home: it spoke of uncertainty, it spoke of hope. It was a bridge between the darker ways of the past, and the luminous horizons of a possible future. I always wondered what ever happened to that lost, forgotten painting. I have found it now, its essence has not been lost. The work presented here, “A.F.V.S.G.002”, is both the reincarnation of the lost one and the resurrection of a long-gone, hibernated act of faith. “A.F.V.S.G. 001” is the first breath in a new atmosphere, the long breath one takes when emerging from a deep and challenging dive underwater. It marks the beginning of a path, on a sandy landscape, where the territories are harsh but the horizons are at close reach. The third act, a movement towards the fleeting horizon, a search for what’s revealed only when observed with empathy and participation. A place marking a connection between the 19th century in Europe and contemporary India.
