Artist statement
The process of creating the painting takes place through the superposition of numerous layers, and the first layers are applied silkscreen prints, or images created with the use of stencil masks. These graphics or words that are printed on the canvas, are collected from the urban landscape, are ornamental details of historic buildings, lines of nature, graffiti phrases or coming from political speeches that circulate in the media. Thus, the first layers of the painting are created as a deposit of data that are collected from the urban landscape and the political landscape and, finally, end up being covered by a last pictorial layer that covers them, like a last skin that veils, that guards or destroys what is underneath.
